Kerstin Peters studied first under German painter Inge Besgen, and continued with courses at the Ottawa School of Art, the Visual Arts Centre Orléans and the National Gallery of Canada.
Looking at her work you will find many landscapes due to the
regular plein air trips but her true love are animal portraits.
For her studio paintings she prefers acrylic paint, while her
plein air work is done in oil due to its better characteristics for
the Canadian climate.
She is part of several plein air painting groups which paint local attractions as well as the Quebec landscape.
She has been a member of Arteast and the Ottawa Art Association for years and has regularly participated in their exhibitions. In 2009 she had her first two solo exhibitions. For many years she was a permanent artist at “Galerie de la Rive” in Rockland. In 2013, she showed her art at the downtown gallery “Artworkz by GAC Ottawa”.
Since 2011 she has given art courses for adults and children – both privately as well as through the City of Ottawa.
Artist Statement: Whenever I look around me I am amazed by the beauty of nature, its ever changing colour and movement. With my paintings I try to interpret this beauty to prevent it from fading - like a moment frozen in time.
