Anne is a fibre artist, working primarily with papers and thread, and embellishing with fabric, coloured pencil and other mediums. She likes to incorporate an unexpected aspect into her works, perhaps a photograph, recycled materials, unusual paper, or suggestion of an activity of daily living.
Anne’s artistic journey has included studies in drawing, painting, coloured pencil techniques, bookbinding, and embroidery through Ottawa School of Art, VACO, local stores, private lessons, and some self-taught. Her formal education includes event management, introductory expressive arts therapies, and learning facilitation.
Since retiring in 2011 from an event management career, Anne has focused on developing her skills in drawing, painting and, most recently, in the fibre arts.
Anne has taught coloured pencil art to seniors, and drawing and painting to children. She has facilitated the creation of community art montages at a local community event, and frequently demonstrated colour pencil and embroidery techniques. Anne is the current Chair of the Navan Fine Arts Exhibition & Sale.
Anne is active in several local arts guilds and has been exhibiting and selling works through Arteast Ottawa, the Out of the Box Fibre Artists, the Ottawa Artisans Guild, and the Manotick Art Association. She is a current member of the AOE Arts Council.
